Default Death Note fans making jokes in bad taste?

While I do find it mildly humorous, I can't help be cringe at the poor taste of the joke. I'm only hoping no issues come of this kind of thing. A person using an actual car accident to pose for a joke just seems a little off to me. Not that I'm overly paranoid, but this is the kinda thing that, when/if publicized, can cause a lot of trouble for the public image of anime and anime fans. Anyway, your thoughts and opinions on this kind of thing are wanted.

Well, I might have a twisted sense of humor, but I find this extremely funny.

There's nothing like malicious glee...

I don't find the accident funny, and I don't mean for anyone to take me the wrong way, but..... this is actually funny! I mean, just seeing this kind makes me feel delightful inside. I don't mean the accident, just the whole idea.

btw, this pic looks like it was taken in Canada, I'm I wrong?

I'm not entirely sure but it does look that way.

I agree with the rest of you that the whole thing is funny, but what kinda threw me off was when I realized that in order to get this picture this guy must've heard about or seen the car accident and thought something along the lines of; "A car accident... I know what would make a great joke involving a car accident!" and then ran to get his cosplay outfit, pen&notebook, and friend with a camera.
(That or got a call from a freind saying;"Hey there's an accident at <so-and-so location> get your Light outfit and notebook, it'll be funny!")

Even if it was more than likely a nonlethal accident, it kinda bugs me that someone's would pretty much ignore the problem of the accident itself and simply think; "Hey, this is funny."

Not to mention that this is the kinda thing that angry mobs of mothers in front of a Viz office building would cling to as an argument against some part of the industry.

I fins it alright since he is just using the setting there's no way to remediate the accident. Just as a bunch of photographers have gotten some kind of prize fpr takin the picture of some starving kid they can't help it so they just use the setting

If you look at it, the accident was a serious one (sand on the tar to cover oil/petrol/blood but the accident itself happened a bit before. No ambulances or police vehicles are present and the fire trucks are usually the last to leave. You prob find that people were just waiting for the tow truck or something when the guy took the pic.

It was an opportunity shot and as no one is actually laughing at the injury itself of people but at the cause of the accident instead I dont feel that it is truely in bad taste.

Not the funniest thing I have ever seen but good for a smile

Doesn't seems like someone died, actually just material damage so I guess no harm there it's kinda funny.

Eh?

OH! I just noticed the Light cosplayer...

LMAO!

Yes... well this person saw an opprtunity for a great picture and seized it! Bravo! I would have done the same knowing that there were no actual fatalities... It's all in good cosplayer fun! Which I LOVE to do! XD
